Ghost Eater Jadis of the Hollow (#9037)

Seducedđź’‹

How did Jadis end up in the Ghoulish Boglands, a place so infested with spooks and rot that few dare to call it home? She had been on her way to The Unicorn Gardens, but like many before her, she lost her way in the treacherous bogs.

By some cruel twist of fate, Jadis survived six months, six days, and six hours alone in the Ghoulish Boglands. "This is it for me," she thought, feeling her powers waning. She could barely crawl.

Out of the mist, a dark figure slowly emerged. A goat? Here, of all places? But this one was different—it wore a jacket and walked on its hind legs.

"Are you alright?" The creature spoke, though its mouth did not move. "You look starved. How long have you been out here?"

Jadis could only stare, her mind too numb to form a response.

"Here, I have just the thing!" the goat exclaimed. Rummaging through his jacket pockets, he handed her a donut. Jadis hesitated, but her stomach betrayed her with an audible growl. Something to ease the hunger pains, just for a moment. "Go on, take a bite!"

Seduced into the cult by donuts. A primal hunger and the taste of the sweet unknown gave Jadis a new purpose. Some say she was cursed, but Jadis believed she was blessed.

A Good Haul 👻🔎

The Runiverse was vast, filled with lands both wondrous and dangerous. Jadis and Bao had explored many of its marvels, but it was the thrill of the hunt that kept them moving, always in search of the freshest souls. Today, they found themselves in the shadowy depths of the Forest of the Imps, a place known for its twisted trees and lurking dangers. Rumor had it that a chimera had been terrorizing the area, drawing in souls eager to slay the beast.

Hidden behind an old, fallen tree, Jadis and Bao watched as a party of warriors and wizards engaged in a fierce battle with the monstrous chimera. The beast was a fearsome sight, its lion’s head roaring, its goat’s head spewing fire, and its serpent’s tail striking with deadly precision. The fight dragged on for hours, the group struggling against the chimera’s relentless onslaught. Jadis and Bao kept their distance, not interested in the battle itself, but in what would inevitably be left behind.

As the fight continued, it became clear that not all of them would make it. The chimera’s savage attacks took their toll, and soon, only a few bloodied survivors remained standing.

Finally, the beast was defeated, its massive body collapsing to the forest floor. Silence fell over the clearing, broken only by the pained breaths of the living. As they departed, Jadis and Bao moved in. "Time to clean up," she murmured. They had no interest in the loot left behind. Their focus was on the faint, glowing wisps hovering above the dead—their souls.

Jadis extended her hand, and with a flick of her wrist, the souls drifted toward her, each one heavy with the memories of its final moments. Bao nudged a particularly vibrant soul her way. "He'll make a fine addition to our collection."

When they were done, Jadis and Bao stood at the edge of the clearing, enjoying the cool night breeze as they gazed up at the stars beginning to emerge in the darkening sky.

"A good haul today," Jadis said, her voice content. "These souls will keep us busy for a while."
