Detour
Jadis was always on the move, but home was constant.
The old tree bleached by lighting marked her way back. Did it always have eyes? Was it left or right at the fork in the road? The fog was dense today.
The glow from the eyes cut through the fog. She watched as the tree split in two, offering another path. There was no signal on her phone, but Bao didn't seem worried. The Soup on the stove would have to wait.
