Chapter 1: A Prophesy Ignored
In the mystical realm of the Toadstools, a peculiar wizard named Clairvoyant Tundror had struggled to make use of his seemingly faulty crystal ball. Despite his best efforts, the ball never displayed any significant visions or prophecies, and many dismissed him as a fraud.
However, everything changed when Tundror encountered a small, unassuming cat named Cassie looking for a meal. Being kind of heart, he brought Cassie into his home and fixed a warm glass of milk. With a purr, his crystal ball came to life, showing an array of strange and fascinating visions from the perspective of a cat.
While he was glad to be granted the gift of foresight again, most of the time, these feline-focused prophecies were of little import. Tundror would witness a scene of a cat napping in sunbeams, catching prey, or climbing trees. And sure enough, each of these visions came true.
However, that all changed one afternoon. Tundror placed his hand on the crystal ball and his environment changed dramatically. The crystal ball grew hot and appeared to catch fire from within, but he couldn’t take his hand off it or look away.
He could see through Cassie’s eyes. She was running through a burning city, terrified and pursued by an unseen horror. Leaping over bodies, Cassie dashed through the streets. Screams echoed around her. A maniacal laughter closed in.
And just like that it was over. The vision reverted back to the Toadstools. A bird landed in the backyard. Tundror gasped, removing his hand from the ball. He looked out the window. Cassie pounced on the bird from the vision.
Tundror knew this foreboding glimpses of the future was significant, but had little more to go on. He decided to leave home in search of more information, and to warn the world. But his warnings fell on deaf ears. No one believed him or took him seriously, and most dismissed his prophecy as mere ramblings of a madman.
Once, a skeptic demanded proof. Tundror showed him his crystal ball. It showed the perspective of a cat stalking a man in a long purple wizard robe talking to Tundror and looking at a crystal ball. The man turned around...
The skeptic took his hand off the crystal ball and whirled around. Cassie was already in the air. “YEOOW!!”, yelled the skeptic. Alas, he remained skeptical, even while nursing his wounds.
Despite the disbelief and ridicule, Tundror refused to give up on his mission. He knew that Cassie's gift was real and that her vision was a warning that could not be ignored. So he trekked on, desperately spreading the word and searching for more information.
