Arch-Magician Alatar of the Realm (#6963)

Owner: 0xCa19…BA3a

Lights Out

Arch-Magician Alatar of the Realm walked quickly towards the main entrance of the Great Hall of the Purple Wizards. Reaching through the security spells protecting the thousand year old book that was built into the main door he grabbed the book and placed it inside his cloak before proceeding confidently straight down the middle of the room between dozens of the most powerful purple wizards in the Runiverse.

None of the purple wizards in the room that day knew how to remove the book in that way without being cooked to a crisp by the protective spells, so they were more than a little surprised by how nonchalantly this new purple wizard had picked it up. They watched each other carefully for any sign of how this was going to play out but no one was showing any emotion at all. Purple wizard Isaac accidentally made a coughing noise as he had been half way through eating a doughnut when the shock of what he had witnessed hit him. Alatar turned his head on the way past and address him by name which just increased the surprise as Isaac had no memory of having ever met him before.

As Arch-Magician Alatar finished walking through the room and exited off to the side the purple wizards came together in the centre of the room talking over each other. Some were trying to work out who the purple hat wizard was (no one had any idea) while others asked the oldest wizard in the room how he this new wizard had been able to take the book so easily but elder wizard was in total shock, he explained that without using five very specific spells in order it shouldn’t have been possible.

He walked slowly towards the door, using his staff to balance his weak body, explaining to the closest wizard the layered defences three of the oldest wizards had designed and built which were supposed to only be deactivated in their presence when they cast the five spells in order.

The elderly wizard arrived at his destination and stood staring at the empty space for several minutes while the other wizards argued about what to do, none really wanted to go after a wizard that powerful and all were hoping someone else would do it.

Then the elderly wizard heard one of the purple wizards who had wondered off exclaim ‘that’s strange’! Silencing the rest he rested his gaze on the wizard by the window and asked what he had noticed.

‘As I move towards the window the sun changes colour ever so slightly, only just on the edge of being noticeable but I am sure of it’

The elderly wizard raised his staff above his head and shouted two words when he brought it down, all of a sudden the entire room changed colour, objects changed position and Arch-Magician Alatar of the Realm could be seen reaching through the security spells and pulling the book out from its resting place. Half a dozen spells were cast towards him as he stepped backwards through a rapidly closing portal to safety, his last words were a message of thanks to the elderly wizard for telling him how to safely remove the book from its resting place.

From outside the Purple Wizard Pavilion a watching set of eyes, just floating in the night air, could see numerous automatic defences shutting down in sequence with purple light after purple light fading into darkness. Oh dear the intelligence behind the eyes thought, what extremely bad luck…..
