Cleric Hagar of the Heath (#6705)

Owner: 0xaDD9…95B6

On a cool spring morning, rosy-fingered Dawn reached above the horizon, smothering the land with her radiant light. It reflected off the dew-covered flowers and plants that stretched endlessly into the expanse of the North, mimicking the starlit sky. The wind—his usual disposition toward ferocity calmed—gently blew loose shrubbery across the heath. It was an ordinary morning, but it was beautiful nonetheless.

The southern boundary of the heath was demarcated by the mystical pines of the Emerald Forest. These towering trees stretched skyward, simultaneously sheltering the heath and veiling the secrets beyond. Teeming with life, the forest was a bustling habitat for creatures large and small. Occasionally driven by curiosity, these animals ventured from the forest into the heath, though most often only for a few short minutes.

Nestled within the forest lay a well-maintained trail. It snaked through the dense network of branches and vines, breaking through the forest's thick enclosure to weave across the heath's undulating hills. This path continued for a considerable distance before abruptly ending at a tidy picket fence. Behind this fence stood a lone cottage. A plume of dense smoke rose from its chimney and outside its ivy-clad walls was an orderly garden. In this garden sat a man in a sturdy wooden chair, a pipe in his mouth and a book in his hand.

This was Hagar, a cleric well-versed in thaumaturgy. Long ago, he had claimed this heath as his home. Hagar found solace in the heath’s isolation, a therapeutic retreat from mankind’s general inclination towards civilizing. Hagar spent his days meandering through the rolling hills of the heath, tending to his garden, and refining his skills for times they might be needed. Periodically, Hagar would find himself in need of supplies, seeds, or various other items not available in his secluded haven. On such occasions, he would make his way into the forest towards the town of Whendwood.

Today was one such occasion, and so, packing his belongings, Hagar grasped his staff firmly, and embarked on the journey towards the woods.
