Magus Amir of the Wold (#6597)

The Return of the Elementals

Magus Amir of the Wold dumped his travellers bag onto the worktop, slumped in his favourite chair and wiped the sweat off his brow. Collecting the phoenix feather required to complete his spell had taken every last ounce of energy from him. Smoke slowly drifted out of the bag and up towards the ceiling, escaping the protective runes he had placed around it.

No matter, he now had all 5 elements in his possession. He considered waiting until the next day to start but was scared about having so many items of value in the same location. The spell was a simple one but the ingredients required for the version he was planning to execute were nearly impossible to get hold off. He had been on quests to the end of the Runiverse, and in one case beyond, in order to gather all five.

Magus Amir was obsessed with recreating the elemental beasts, long since disappeared from the Runiverse. He was convinced he had discovered, in an ancient magical book, the path to bring them back to life. Wiping the worktop clear with his sweat drenched hand he placed an egg the size of his head right in the centre.

One by one he added the still burning phoenix feather (Fire), moss from the tree of life (Earth), ice from the core of the Northern crystal caves (Water), and ionised air from the centre of the eternal thunderstorm. Each was rapidly absorbed through the shell leaving no mark on the surface.

Finally came the need to add the fifth element (Life), he had thought about it deeply and although some dark wizards would transfer life force from other unsuspecting souls he would voluntarily give 100 years of his to bring back into the world the mythical creatures of the golden age.

Placing his hand on the top of the egg and giving the incantation that unlocked his mind into the right state he felt the life force move across, slowly at first but doubling and doubling again to the point of maximum capacity the egg could contain.

Then it doubled and doubled again in rapid succession, white wizards rarely panic but certainly concern started to raise in his mind, moving beyond his original simple estimates he started to estimate the theoretical maximum energy density the egg could have stored and realised they were already past that point. It could no longer be simply an object of this universe, in some way it must now contain a portal.

Changing tactics Magus Amit reached out into the world around him and redirected its entropy, enormously dangerous if done wrong!

The temperature in the surrounding city started to drop rapidly, the lights and electricity flickered as he converted all the temperature into magical energy and tried to push too much energy into the egg as a single sudden spike.

Sensing the wave coming somehow the egg started to flicker as if many similar eggs had been superimposed on top of each other before vanishing with an explosion so loud it blew Magus Amir off his feet.

Getting up to his feet slowly while shaking his head he started smiling, life could have been so boring but right here in front of him was another adventure. Mentally he was already planning what he needed for his trip to find the egg and meet the new life he had created.

He would probably have smiled a bit less if he had spotted the tiny pinpricks of sparkling void matter on the desk, picked up during his last quest they had made their way onto the sweat on his hand when he had wiped his forehead.

You see the ancient records of the white magic wizards contained no warnings on 6 element creatures, not because it hadn’t happened before, but mainly because there was no one left to write about it after….
