Shadow Mage Shukri of the Wood (#4808)

Owner: 0xCa19…BA3a

The Unreal Staff

Shadow Mage Shukri of the Wood fell out with the other Dream Masters millennia ago. They had wished to remain aloof from the world of the living, to continue as the guardians of the barrier between the worlds.

Shukri understood their logic, the desire to give the residents of the Runiverse free will was a noble one. But he had seen too much pain, too much suffering, too much stupidity to think the world should be as black and white as that. Eventually a tipping point in his patience was reached and Shukri decided he had to intervene in the world of the living. So he set about putting his plan in motion.

While all powerful in the world of dreams, when visiting the land of the living he needed an object to act as a focal point to direct his magic, in order to actually have an effect. He decided to first build a weapon in the dream world, combining powerful objects that couldn’t exist in the real world to create an incredibly dangerous weapon.

The choice of which parts to make the weapon from took a long time, as in the world of dreams the list of choices was infinite. Eventually he settled on using the bones of a creature that didn’t even exist in the real world, a staff made out of the bones of the Chaos Dragon.

On the night he planned to leave Shukri phase shifted into the dream of a dark wizard who was in the middle of collecting treasure from a castle. He added in the dragon, who was so shocked by its rapid creation that it had no time to defend itself from the wizard who destroyed it instantly. Mage Shukri forged the dragon bone staff from the dead dragon before pushing it into the reflection of the nearest puddle on the ground, it passed through the reflection into Dream Master Lake in the world of the living.

Collecting together all his energy he pushed himself through the same reflection and fell out onto the ground at the edge of Dream Master Lake. Reaching back in to the reflection he shifted the portal so it pointed towards a lake on the other side of the Runiverse to stop anyone following him. He stood up and looked at his new body for a few seconds before starting to move. Slowly at first but then with increasing confidence he started walking towards the lights of a tavern he could hear nearby, certain that he was going to do good in this world. Sure in his confidence that he was going to make an impact.

All around him ripples of entropy flowed out of the staff, a staff that should never have been able to exist in this reality.
