Enchanter Layla of the Riviera

Druidic Disciple of the Purple Hats

Born on the coastline of the Donut Atoll, Layla of the Riviera was never a stranger to social isolation. She grew up atop the Necromancer Tower, in luxurious quarters that overlooked the Purple Wizard Pavilion where she spent many hours observing young wizards training in the ways of Chaos Magic.

As a young enchanter (excuse me, enchantress), Layla struggled to earn the respect of her fellow aspiring wizards. She was often mocked for her deep voice and broad shoulders. Although her physical stature would become an advantage later in life, her youth was spent largely in solitude to avoid snickers and disdain from other acolytes in training.

She was trained in the ways of magic by her father, a notorious Necromancer and prominent practitioner in the Order of the Purple Hats. He was a powerful, chaotic wizard with grand visions for his daughter’s future, especially after observing her natural proclivity for unpredictable incantations and intuition for explosive spells much beyond her years.

Like many great Purple Wizards before him, Layla’s father risked his own sanity and set out for the Cuckoo Land and the Psychic Leap in search of chaotic enlightenment. He never returned from this fateful journey, presumed dead or lost to the tribulations of fanatical lunacy.

Layla was in her formative years when her father departed, still awaiting her teenage years. Her training was far from complete.

“Nephelococcygia awaits,” Layla’s father said. “The power of revolutionary ideation is undeniable…” 🔮

Upon his departure, Layla’s father entrusted her with the safety of the Crystal Ball handed down by his father before him and his young, Lucky Black Cat named Artemis. Layla had yet to receive training on the art of foresight; however, she would gaze into the crystal ball from time to time when missing her father, seemingly drawn to its subtle vibrations…

After months turned to years, her father was deemed officially lost.

Layla was left adrift; a wizard without a vision. Until one day when she stumbled upon Wizard #9131, who was traveling to The Donut because of its reputation for biodiversity. She was in search of a specific, rare glowing flower native only to warm coastal areas rich in magical slime produced by the local jellyfish.

Victoria was a master florist with a fledgling reputation for cultivating rare blossoms and presenting them to powerful wizards to earn their favor. She was not only a passionate horticulturist, but also a talented storyteller that captivated those she blessed with her Charm.

Layla was drawn by her feminine, druidic presence. Victoria was in touch with nature in a way that Layla had never experienced with the Purple Hat Wizards that were collectively preoccupied with uncovering evermore powerful magical practices. Balance was not something they valued. The ethos of the druids opened Layla’s eyes to the power of living in harmony with Mother Nature and motivated her to develop a passion for herbology… something else for which the Purple Hats had little appreciation.

Together Layla and Victoria traversed The Salt and The Brine to collect flora from the Western Shores. Together they uncovered trade secrets and established a profitable, niche market in the area surrounding The Spike. Their glowing buds were particularly useful for warriors exploring the darkness of The Nightmare Dominion.

Layla was finally able to be proud of her physical stature. Her broad shoulders and abnormal strength allowed her to be an effective sailor, giving her and Victoria the confidence they needed to conquer the Western Seas.

Over the years they earned a notable reputation as proprietors of unusual blossoms. Together they forged a seal, known as Cultus Rosarum, that would bear their mark whenever one of their flowers is sold. They agreed upon a unified form of delivery; a style recognizable as authentic and true as their flowers found their way to the other side of the Western Seas.

As Layla grew to adulthood she returned to The Donut with a newfound confidence to support the preservation of their highly desirable jellyfish and cultivate the local glowing flora.

Today Layla’s reputation is well known within the Purple Haze affinity, mostly thanks to the growing demand for her Lux Rosa breed of glowing rose. Through her specialization as the only Floral Master on the island with the Rune of Down, she possesses a unique combination of expertise unmatched by any other wizard in the realm.

She has a distinctive attire, known for sporting a purple yoga set that accentuates her shoulders. It's colored to pay homage to her father, the Purple Hat that raised her. Layla’s shiny blonde hair is often filled with flowers, signifying her symbiosis with the plants she holds so dear.

Layla’s colorful verbosity projects a nurturing energy; yet, there is a duality about her. When faced with her true self, there’s little doubt that she has a darkness in her heart just waiting to become known...

Most nights Layla can be found awake, late into the dark hours, secretly deciphering old tomes in the ancient tongue, thought to be incomprehensible by most wizards alive today… 📖
