The device powered down, as Wizard #239 retracted it and concealed it within the folds of his robes, giving Magus Amir of the Ether a knowing look, then glancing at the corner of the office.
Surrounded by densely packed bookshelves, Wizard #8435 sat up in his chair, his ordinarily inscrutable visage now a bit wide-eyed, staring at the same corner of the office, then back to Wild Mage.
"The Quantum Shadow has been evolving and making its presence known outside of the perceived boundaries of The Quantum Shadow, particularly The Wild and The Moon Wood - these anomalous infestations must be discerned and quantified. I believe I have solved this problem on a practical level, not theoretical."
Magus Amir narrowed his eyes, thinking. Suddenly, Wild Mage cast a minor Null spell upon the presence in the corner of the office, a flash and a puff evaporating into - nothing.
"So yes, I'd say I'm versed in the Defense Arts of Shadow Magic. It is a vital, yet neglected, matter."
Magus Amir shifted in his seat a bit, thoughtfully.
"You mentioned you were also experienced in the Equestrian arts?" he asked, as he slid the Faculty Key across his desk to the still standing Wild Mage.
"Yes, I believe I can balance these two, though I'm going to need some help."
Magus Amir smiled slightly, rising from his seat with an extended hand.
"That won't be a problem. Welcome to Kelpie Academy."
Wild Mage pocketed the key with one hand, ideas bouncing in his head about his first lectures, the other hand shaking Magus Amir's firmly.
"Glad to be here."

Wizard #239 left Kelpie Academy a bit shy of midnight.
An inkling of a notion had been bugging him for quite some time, so he had to investigate.
