Seven Sword of Sheep (#7287)

Owner: 0xCa19…BA3a

Seven Sword of Sheep

Seven of Sheep was already old when he moved to the highlands. He lived in a small cottage, set off on its own, with a most beautiful view. No one in the nearest village knew his name so they just called him Seven after the number on the cottage door. Considered one of the elders of the local area he kept to himself and the local people respected that.

One day a band of marauders came into the village and made a threat. Give us half your harvest or we will just kill you and take all of it anyway. They gave the villagers 24 hours to make their choice.

After they had left silence descended on the village as everyone just looked at each other hoping someone else would speak first. Finally the silence broke when one of the oldest villagers turned towards Seven and gesturing towards the retreating band of marauders said

‘Please can you just kill them all tomorrow and get this over and done with’

‘What do you mean’ a shocked Seven responded. 'What are you trying to say'

‘Look, we are not stupid. You turn up out of nowhere looking for a quiet life with a very well used ordinary sword and reflexes like a cat. Your clearly some kind of hero. We don’t care what your back story is, just will you do it so we can get back to work?’

Seven paused, looked like he was about to protest again but then just shrugged and with almost a sad voice replied ‘Sure, ok, if you want’.

The second elder, seeing how he had perhaps come on too strong, tried to be encouraging. He pointed out how good an effort he had made to blend in, that he can go straight back to being an anonymous outsider right after he had finished. Everyone else made noises that they would play along.

The next day the marauders returned to the village finding Seven just staring at the ground sighing. He didn't even say anything as he walked towards the rather confused gang.

One of the villagers brave enough to look out of their window described the fight as very strange, Seven never appeared to use much effort to kill anyone. At one point simply moving so a couple of the bandits killed each other.

The key defining characteristic appeared to be whenever they swung their swords towards Seven he was just never there. Time and time again he just moved out the way until he was close enough just to stick his old and rusty sword into them without much enthusiasm.

When he was done he just kept walking, head down, in a straight line back to his house without even looking behind to check they were all dead.

The villagers kept their promise and acted like nothing had happened, although behind closed doors they now referred to him by the new name Seven Sword of Sheep.
