Ajax Savior of Concrete #3619

While Ultramarine rhinoceros beetles faired well in the desert sand, Ajax did not. His wrestling singlet did not do him any favors and the sand was...everywhere. "Just over the next dune" he muttered to himself for what could have very well been the hundredth time. These directions from the oracle were typical oracle directions. So vague that they could mean anything. Wishing he had asked more questions, he continued North. With each step his feet were swallowed by the sand. He struggled to pull them free. His energy falling with the sinking sun. Soon it would be dusk. He turned to his beetle companion who was darting back and forth, effortlessly gliding across the surface of the sandy landscape.

"Scout ahead and see if you can locate shelter. We need to stop before nightfall."

The URB obediently charged ahead, its antennas twitching side to side. Ajax watched until his friend disappeared over the horizon. A dull shaking alerted him to the presents of a sandworm, but this one was small and moderately far away. Regardless, he stood still not wanting any vibration from his steps to alert the creature. Morning was a fine time to fight sandworms. Evenings, not so much.

Battling sandworms would soon be the least of his worries, unless he could reach @Atlanta's Pool.
