The Ever is the name given to the leader of the Woodland fairies of the Emerald Forest.
When the call for a quest happens The Ever sends out the purple loons to give short loud cries through the forest and around Rabbit Lake. This will summon the entire community of woodland fairies.
Once everyone has arrived a firefly is given to the head of each family. The Ever has enchanted these fireflies so no one can alter what will happen next.
Each of the fifteen families take their firefly home and hold the ceremony of light. All family members who are done with school write their name on the family crest that hangs on the main tree for their family. The firefly is let go and it flies over and lands on a name. This fairy will be the one to go on the quest. This fairy now has the title of “Light.” The decision is final. No one is allowed to back out.
Afterwards the Light takes the firefly back to The Ever. The Lights take an oath to do what is necessary to protect and defend against all enemies or outsiders wishing to cause harm to any woodland fairy. The community blesses all the Lights.
Each family has a role to play in getting these fifteen and The Ever ready for their quest. They are helped out of their regular clothes and armor and protective gear is put on. Jewelry or any other unnecessary accessories are taken off. Hair and beards are either cut or tied back. The Lights receive special swords and other equipment or supplies they might need from the community.
These fifteen know they might not come back. They have been chosen to go and find the young beast Nayeria or as the fairies call her Black Death. Nayeria has already killed one of their own.

The Lights
Fifteen fairies and The Ever who will go on a quest with other from the Emerald Forest to defeat Nayeria….the black death. One fairy from each of woodland families was choosen.
The Ever- She used to be called Kusha. She has long red hair that is perfectly braided down her back. She wears no jewelry except for a small thin gold crown. She doesn’t talk very often. She seems to know everything that happens even when she isn’t around. She likes to fly to the tops of the trees and sit. From there she can see the sky, the stars, and what is happening around her.
Ednir- He is quiet, likes things in order, and is always humming a song. Holds a music concert and art show at the start of every full moon. He is short and muscular. His short red hair has dark brown highlights that match his trimmed beard. Ash Tree Family- Woodworkers, makers of musical instruments
