Porter Bludgeoner of the Duck Alliance (#10580)

Owner: 0xce35…DD24

Establishing the Kelpie Guard

Following Magus Amir's rescue of Porter from the cave, Porter followed him further down the coast towards what looked like a towering bastion off in the distance. As they approached closer, the towering spires became taller and the sheer size of the Academy came into full scope.

The arcane power radiating from the structure concerned Porter initially, but he continued to follow. Porter and Magus Amir still making their way through the dark and thick fog eventually approached the front gate of the Academy.

Porter walked up to Magus Amir who then welcomed Porter. "Welcome to the Kelpie Academy, may its strong presence instill you with the strength to pursue your future." said Magus Amir. Porter responded with slight hesitation, "Did you build this Academy?" Magus Amir turned to Porter and stated "I know that this structure of significant arcane power holds many secrets, which gives way to perfect grounds for learning.

We can learn these secrets together, Porter, if you accept my offer." Porter still stunned from the size of the Academy follows Magus Amir inside the walls of the Academy. They make their way through the courtyard, passing by a the Kelpie Fountain which glowed a mysterious humming blue in the darkness of night.

They moved on towards the largest spire in the entire Academy which Magus Amir told Porter was The Grand Tower, home to the Head Scholar's study.

Head Scholar Magus Amir and Porter arrive to his study at the top of the tower, overlooking the entire Academy and the Kelpie Bay. Porter looked out one of the windows over the Kelpie Bay and took in the marvelous view. The bay covered in that same thick fog he was lost in only some hours ago, but now standing above it in almost a moment of victory over his past, and rising to his future.

The Head Scholar calls Porter over to his desk and begins to layout his vision for Porter. "Porter...this Academy is not impervious to the threats that exist beyond its walls. Many bandits and highwaymen threaten our students, as well as natural aggressive beasts like the mighty griffins and hyenas. There are also those who are Shadow Worshipers who are a direct conflict of interest for our cause.

Knowledge is power, but knowledge alone will not help us continue to survive and complete our mission of ushering in the next generation of wizards. We need strength! We need guardians!" The Head Scholar rose from his chair and they both made their way towards the same window that framed the vast and dense fog that covered Kelpie Bay.

"Though our faculty are wizards themselves and are capable of self defense, their first job is to be teachers to the students of the Academy, they cannot be both teacher and protector." The Head Scholar then turns to Porter. "This is where you come in. I believe you were brought here for a reason. I believe you were cast out of the Duck Alliance so you could be here. I could see it in your eyes the second we met, you have such strong conviction and determination, two strong components of what could be a great leader.

I am forming an elite force, a guard that is unseen anywhere else in the Runiverse, who will defend the Academy and it's students. They will also be a policing body to ensure all students and faculty are following Academy rules and regulations. They will be known as the Kelpie Guard."

The Head Scholar with his eyes in a fixed gaze upon Porter with his own mysterious energy radiating from his eyes. "What I see in you Porter, is the beginnings of a Commander. I offer you the chance to rise above what you were in that cave. It is your time to become the blade that shields knowledge, or in your case, the hammer that holds firm as the safeguard of knowledge.

Will you stand with me, Porter?" Porter was completely stunned by this offer and was silent for a long moment. Slowly, Porter turned and gave Magus Amir his answer. "I am willing to take on this obligation. I do not know if I am truly ready for this powerful position, but if you believe there is a purpose for me here...then I will try. I accept."

The Head Scholar begins to grin in delight but before he could say anything Porter cut him off. "But I must be honest with you, my trust is not something I hand out to anyone, especially to wizards or any magic user. Your kind has scarred me for a lifetime.

You have earned my trust with everything you have done tonight, saving me, and taking me in to give me such an important role. Outside of you, I will not be having an easy time trusting your faculty or other members of this Academy." Magus Amir with a look of understanding grinned and leaned in towards Porter. "You need not worry, your distrust with the faculty can work to our advantage. You will only be answering directly to me and you will have a seat on the Kelpie Academy Council.

On top of this, we will see what we can accomplish regarding your inquiry into enchanting combat weapons. This is my vision." The Head Scholar extends his hand out to Porter. "Shall we begin, Commander of the Kelpie Guard?" Porter stared at that offered hand for a brief moment, but with confidence and certainty he accepted the handshake.

A surge of what seemed like an arcane presence pulsed through the Head Scholars study almost as if the Academy itself had acknowledged the beginning of a new chapter for the two men, and the Academy.
